My one and only mother

By Creature E.

My mother didn't have a higher education. Among her 5 sisters, she is the one who didn't finish her schooling. My mother has 5 siblings and she is the fourth child of my late grandparents. Between five of them, my other three aunties had done quite well in their education. My first aunty is a housewife. My second aunty used to be a teacher and she was really a good teacher as her husband also was a headmaster but she stopped teaching when she gave birth to the fifth child because she wanted to concentrate on her family. And those are my cousins of course. Then, my mother's third sister, whom just recently retired and had been working for almost 30 years. If she was employed by the government it shows that she is educated too and she is quite diplomatic type of person. The youngest one is my aunty whom now is working with one of the prominent petroleum company in the country for the past 25 years if I'm not mistaken. She proved that she always on her way of glory and success when she was promoted for the higher position two years back and now migrated to peninsula region together with her husband. My mom's talent was not empty. My late grandfather recognized her skill more on religion part. What had been told to us that she was sent to religious school and when she was 18, she followed my late grand-dad and grand-mom performed Haj in Mecca. So, she got the title 'Hajjah' very early from her other sisters. My mom is good in reciting Al-Quran. I always proud of her. She recites Al-Quran every morning after Fajr prayer with the correct Tajwid and Tarannum. And my mom's also a good learner. Although she is now in her fifties, she still wants to learn more and actually almost every year the mosque bureau at my residence encourages her to participate in Tilawah Al-Quran. She got it last two years for second place. I always imagine what would happen if my mother is an educated person and possesses a good position in working? One thing for sure is fussy boss. With her strict and no compromise attitude, I don't think she is the admirable one in the office. But, my mom has a few good value if she was employed. She will obey the rules. She is punctual, seriously doing her work. You cannot lie to her or wish to take advantage on her. My mom knows the liar. You don't have to open up your mouth to persuade her. She can smell it and if it's happen, bangggg.....it will be a mistake forever because she will never forget it. She loves changing. She always rearrange the furniture in the house from the bedroom to the kitchen. If the toilet bowl can be moved here and there, I think she will do that too. She hates mess. For the rest of my life living with her, she would not stop cleaning if her house is dirty. She works on it although it is 3 am. If we have an event at night for example, don't be surprised if u will see the house is already clean and back to normal like you never had an event the night before by 7 am the next day. Once all the guest left, she started clean up everything and normally she finished it on the same night except cleaning the outside. That's my mom. And I know, I follow her in that way. We both love clean and tidy environment. We always work together especially on Eid Fitri's eve. Not only that, few days before Raya, she will busy looking for any boy who can help her to arrange her flower pots outside the house. So, my mom will start having her 'nursery' to take care of several months before raya coming and will make sure that those flowers she has planted blooming upon raya time. And of course, I will be a victim to water her flowers if she is not around.
